As General Manager of Gotham Bar and Grill, Bret Csencsitz ensures that there is an artful consistency and a graceful elegance to each dining experience at this classic New York restaurant. Whether guests are sipping on a Gotham Fritz at the lively bar or celebrating a special occasion in the spacious dining room, Csencsitz is in tune to the subtle details that go into making each guest feel as though he or she is in the spotlight.

Originally trained as a Shakespearean actor, Csencsitz traveled the world to perform. After settling in New York, he produced and ran theatre workshops everywhere from jail houses to off-Broadway playhouses. When he transitioned into production, he crossed paths with Chef Daniel Boulud and was intrigued by the prospect of using his stage presence and organizational skills in a different industry. He called on his production skills to become the Private Events Assistant Banquet Director at Daniel, and then moved to Café Boulud as the Maître d', where his dignified persona welcomed the Café’s society.

In 2007, Csencsitz joined Gotham Bar and Grill. In his role as General Manager, he provides a level of service and management that complements acclaimed Chef Alfred Portale’s celebrated cuisine. Drawing from his intuition and people skills, Csencsitz has carefully selected a staff that is known for gracious service. Overseeing the fine details that go into a three-star restaurant, Csencsitz is able to bring the art of hospitality to life each day.
